This 16 Year Old Makes More Money Than You: His Ecommerce Story

Since 2008, I have been supporting my family almost exclusively with ecommerce revenue. At least once a week I am asked by my peers (people in the 40ish age group) how I work from home. They say things like, “What exactly is it that you do?” When I tell people that I own ecommerce stores, many still do not understand. I have helped several middle aged adults create their own ecommerce stores over the past decade, but have found that many of my peers are not tech savvy and struggle with the basic tasks required in the ecommerce business.

The 25 and under crowd gets ecommerce.

And there are plenty of teens and young adults earning substantial incomes with their ecommerce stores. Callum Lepley is one of these inspiring teens. Even when his parents didn’t understand what he was doing and even chastised him a bit. Even when his friends laughed at him and said he was wasting his time. Even when he failed. He…never…gave…up.

I had the pleasure of chatting with him a bit in a Shopify Ecommerce Facebook group and here is what he had to say.

A Teen’s Ecommerce Story

My ecommerce journey started in October 2016. I was 16 years old and had a great idea for a clothing brand. I moved forward, marketed the brand to my 10,000+ followers on Instagram. I made sales but no where near kicked off. At the same time, I’d spent hundreds in different advertising methods, not seeing any return. To a 16 year old with less than $300 to his name this was psychologically hard.

I moved on from the clothing brand and focused more on affiliate marketing and my digital marketing consulting business. I helped multiple clients set up there businesses and generate leads on Instagram.

At this time, most of my friends thought what I was doing was a joke and mostly laughed. I didn’t let it bother me.

My family didn’t understand what I was doing and stayed out of it, for the most part. At certain points, they’d put me down and asked me if it was all worth it.

I kept to my gut and hustled.

Soon, I had made a few hundred from the clothing brand, along with a few hundred from my affiliate marketing business, and I totaled about $1000 from online income streams in the few months I was working. (Note: Callum attends school full-time)

I believed in myself alot and knew I could make more money.  I decided to teach myself Facebook ads, working hard, reading articles, and studying some of the best in the industry.

I started a new dropshipping ecommerce store and am now making about $150 per day. My goal is to earn about $1000/day by my eighteenth birthday.

I spent (and still do) countless hours, sleepless nights, missed school days and tears to get this working without losing all my money.

This newly found knowledge has allowed me to teach many people what I do.
I run a Facebook mastermind group with over 50 members where I teach the methods I have used to earn money online. I am also putting together a free course to help people who are struggling with ecommerce.

The Facebook group is called Alpha Profits Academy.

My long term goal is to make my first million dollars by age 21 through a combination of my digital marketing agency and e-commerce brands. With the right attitude and work ethic, I know this is achievable.
