How I Write Blog Posts in 30 Minutes Using AI

This content has been updated to reflect the recent changes in AI technology.

As a content writer, I take immense pride in my writing. I write most of the content for my portfolio of websites and also for my automotive and e-commerce clients. I love writing- but it can be time-consuming. If you are a blogger or content writer, you know how frustrating it can be to stare at the blinking cursor of a blank screen. Sometimes the words don’t come easily.

Blog Content is Important

If you aren’t a content writer but understand the importance of blog content on your website, this information is for you, too. Google loves helpful content and will favor your website if it contains such content. How do you create this content if you aren’t a natural writer? In the past, maybe you hired a content writer (like me) or did the best you could.

Even though I am a seasoned and trained writer, I am always looking for faster ways to research and write blog posts. Time is money, after all.

This website is supported by affiliate relationships with products and solutions I use and love. If you decide to purchase a product or service, I may receive a small commission.

How Can AI Help Content Writers?

I have been using various forms of AI (automated intelligence) for content writing since 2020. It has helped me serve and respond to clients more efficiently. It has helped me to grow my website portfolio by adding new content websites in various niches. I don’t believe that AI will ever completely replace content writers because writing is a craft.

At first, I had a negative attitude toward it. I mean, I am educated and trained to be a writer, and I refuse to admit that a robot can write better than I can. However, I soon changed my mindset about using AI. Instead of viewing it as a replacement for writers, I consider it a supplement. Every piece of content I produce with AI is human-edited. I recently heard Spencer Haws of Niche Pursuits refer to his blog content as “AI-assisted, human-edited,” and that term resonated with how I have been using AI.

I find AI helpful in several ways:

  • Article research is prompted for me. I always check the veracity of AI, but it is a great starting point to create outlines.
  • It breaks through writer’s block.
  • I write blog posts in 30 minutes. (I wrote five long-form blog posts yesterday!)
  • Write social media posts and emails.
  • Knock out hundreds of tedious ecom product descriptions in minutes.
  • Write compelling landing page sales copy.

My Two Favorite AI Platforms for Blog Content Writing

In 2021, I was provided the opportunity to try Jasper (previously Jarvis), an AI content writer. With Jasper, I developed a process for producing blog content that was well-written and authentic. I played around with it until I found the perfect balance of AI support and human editing. I subscribed to Jasper for about two years, and I found it pricey but worth it for the amount of content I produced.

Last week I was invited to be an early adopter for Koala. It only took me a few days to cancel my subscription with Jasper and dive into Koala. Although Koala is the best option for my current needs, Jasper is still an excellent AI service run by great people who provide solid customer support. Both services are worth considering if you are deciding whether to produce content using AI.

How I Use Koala to Write a Blog Post

I first heard about Koala from two of my favorite niche website owners, Anne Moss and Jon Dykstra. Anne decided to convert her writing team to an AI-generating and editing team. She describes it as using “AI to do the heavy lifting while under human supervision and guidance.”

Koala has two core products: KoalaChat and KoalaWriter. You can try either one for free. Click here to head to their website where you can write up to 5,000 words with their AI platform for free.

Koala’s platform is based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT. You have the option to use either GPT3.5 or GPT4. I prefer GPT4 because it uses more current information and is known to be more factually accurate. Word on the street is that GPT4 is even passing AI detectors without any editing, although I will always edit AI content.

My Steps Using KoalaWriter

First, I use the KoalaWriter to develop a blog post outline. I enter the requested parameters, such as title, content prompt, intro prompt, etc. Then I click on Create Outline, and it immediately develops a comprehensive outline. I can add or delete sections, and when the outline is perfect, I click on Write Article.

Just like magic, KoalaWriter will deliver an article based on the outline that is surprisingly high-quality. I always fact-check AI content and have been amazed that Koala’s content has had near-perfect accuracy.

Why not just use ChatGPT? KoalaWriter is customized for content writers. It even has the option to produce Amazon affiliate content with product suggestions and descriptions. The prompts are beautifully tailored for blog content.

The AI world is moving fast, and this is my favorite tool as of right now. The price is right, and the quality is great.

Head over the Koala and play around with it. You can write 5,000 words for free, so it’s definitely worth trying.

How I Used Jasper (previously Jarvis) to Write a Blog Post

Before I write blog content, I do SEO research. When I open Jasper, I already have my title and keywords ready. I mostly use the long-form blog article template (part of the Pro subscription) because it is the best for blog content.

I write a quick blurb letting Jasper know what I am writing about, and then I instruct Jasper to generate some introduction paragraphs. I select the one I like the best and then open the editor to get started.

I add my first H2 header and maybe an intro sentence, and then I click Compose. I keep doing this through my headers until Jasper and I have written all the content. This usually takes 10-15 minutes, depending on how many words the blog post is.

Next, I go through the content from the beginning. I fact-check everything, revise the tone, and add the brand voice and call to action I want for the post. I move stuff around a bit, add a few things and take out a few things until it is perfect.

I can also use Jasper to generate an intro paragraph, complete outline, email to subscribers, and social media posts. They recently added a chat feature that is helpful for short snippets of content.

Then, I copy and paste it into my blogging platform, add links and images, and press publish! So easy!

But What About Plagiarism?

A valid concern is where AI is getting this content. Is it simply “spinning” existing content? Could I get in trouble for plagiarism if I rely on the content that AI produces? We put that to the test. So far, I have generated nearly 150,000 words with AI both for my websites and for client websites. The content from both Jasper and Koala has cleared three separate plagiarism checkers: Quetext, Copyscape, and Grammarly. So far, these plagiarism software platforms cleared the content.

But What About AI Detectors?

There is buzz about how Google will handle AI-generated content. Will they deindex? Will they flag it as AI content? No one knows for sure. I personally would never try to pass off unedited AI content without human editing. It isn’t my style and I would never want to anger Google. But, as an experiment, I have run 12 pieces of AI-generated content through an AI detector and Jarvis content passed it 20% of the time, but KoalaWriter passed it 87% of the time. Just another reason to use KoalaWriter.

I used AI to help write this blog post, and it took me about 25 minutes to write. I am using AI, specifically Koala, not because I am lazy or the quality of my content is poor, but because AI helps me write blog posts and other content more efficiently. AI is a writing assistant that allows me to develop high-quality content in a fraction of the time.

Whether you are a blogger or a freelance content writer, how would your life change if you could write new blog posts in under 30 minutes?
